The Hide and Seek game idea is actually one of the earlier ones that I came up with. Immediately I began to wonder just where would Sparks hide? Since so many Wish Star episodes take place at night, I knew he’d have some trouble concealing himself. I don’t remember where I got the idea to hide him in front of the sun. Perhaps it came from binary stars such as the Sirius system, where the larger star can mask the presence of the smaller star to the naked eye.

Of course, since we still don’t know if Sparks can really fly or not, how he would get up high enough to take advantage of the sun’s light is still a mystery even to me, which is why the sun actually began to set during this story arc. So where was he earlier in the story when the sun was still high in the sky? I’m sure Kelly knows…

I believe that this is the first time that Joe called his sister by her nickname, “Kells.” Kelly was actually named sometime after I first watched The Secret of Kells, one of my favorite animated films about the (rather fictionalized and embellished) origins of The Book of Kells, an illuminated manuscript of the four gospels. I guess that makes Kelly named after a 9th century book. Maybe that’s a little weird, but I guess you have to find inspiration somewhere.

Anyway, I hope that you all enjoyed this issue of Wish Star. Keep reading for more fun adventures ahead!
